ContextDeck Docs — Windows desktop app and Chrome extensionSummary
ContextDeck converts documents into Markdown and AI context packs. The desktop app is local-first: conversion runs on your computer using an embedded engine. The companion Chrome extension talks only to a local server on your own machine.
Document conversion
- Files you select are converted on your computer. We do not receive or store your document contents on any server we operate.
- The desktop app writes converted Markdown files, context packs and manifests to a local output folder you can open at any time.
- The Chrome extension sends files only to a local server on
127.0.0.1:7771running on your own machine.
What is stored locally
- App settings and history: the desktop app stores your license state, conversion history (file names and output paths, not file contents) and preferences in a local file at
%APPDATA%\ContextDeck\Docs\state.json. - License state: if you activate a Pro or Teams license, we store the license key, activation instance ID, plan, and the email returned by our license provider, on your device.
- Extension storage: the Chrome extension stores language preference, local server status, license state and optional conversion history using Chrome's local/sync storage.
Third-party services
- Lemon Squeezy: used only when you buy, activate, validate or deactivate a license. License requests are sent directly from the app to Lemon Squeezy's public licensing API over HTTPS.
- Ko-fi: the optional donation link opens Ko-fi in your browser. No data is sent to Ko-fi unless you choose to visit that page.
Analytics and telemetry
We do not currently collect analytics or telemetry from the desktop app, the landing page, or the Chrome extension. If this changes, this policy will be updated first.
Chrome extension permissions
The Chrome extension requests:

- tabs — to open setup, support, checkout, donation and AI tool pages after you click those buttons.
- clipboardWrite — to copy generated Markdown after you click Copy.
- host permissions for localhost:7771 / 127.0.0.1:7771 — to communicate with the local conversion server on your own computer.
